Contempt

LINE OF ACTION: Contempt is a mix of many very subtle emotions, yet we know exactly when someone holds us in contempt. The mouth is compressed to almost angry, but more disgusted without showing a snarl. The brows usually are stern, but one will be cocked up a little bit show how the disgust is almost laughable. Contempt mixes conceit, disgust and disdain together to create a complex yet identifiable facial expression. It's as if the person expressing contempt is saying "What a fool your are."

DEFINITION: The feeling or attitude of regarding someone or something as inferior, base, or worthless; scorn. The state of being despised or dishonored; disgrace. Open disrespect or willful disobedience of the authority of a court of law or legislative body. The feeling of despising: despisal, despite, disdain, scorn. The disposition boldly to defy or resist authority or an opposing force: contumacy, defiance, despite, recalcitrance, recalcitrancy.
