MUSE Main Titles

https://vimeo.com/242758403
Fernando Domínguez Cózar created this opening titles for the Jaume Balagueró´s new film “Muse”, a thriller based on the novel ” La Dama número 13 ” by José Carlos Somoza. The Dante´s Divide comedy has an strong presence on the “Muse” film since the main character, Samuel, has an special link with literature. The opening titles are based on one of the Divine comedy´s infernos: The fate of suicides.

Since the suicides have “denied the God-given sanctity of their bodies on earth,” they are deemed unfit for human form. The soul grows into an anguished and gnarled tree. The placement of the soul is haphazard and disordered – “anywhere that fortune tosses it” – analogous to how the Suicides treated their bodies.

The opening titles are a representation of this tate of suicides´s inferno, the human anatomy is the main character of the piece. Melted bodies forming abstract forms mixing and forming trees, nature elements and surrealist creatures inhabit this fiction.

A Clean Energy Future for North Carolina

https://vimeo.com/236947630

Gorgeous color palette and designs.

As Duke Energy rolled out it's plan for the future of North Carolina's energy production, Sierra Club asked us to create a film that showed the residents or NC that there was another option. An option that would improve their health and be more financially and ecologically responsible.

The final video exists as single complete video and two cut-downs that focus on different areas of the plan. We chose to take advantage of the beauty of North Carolina in reminding people just what was at stake in their decisions.

AnimatorSteve - Stephen Vyas - Breakdown of Fight Animation

https://vimeo.com/196117478

Animating a fight with multiple characters is tough.

For every contact, the silhouette needs to be extra readable with a clear line of action.
I think this fight is a good example if you want to animate one!

Stephen Vyas drew over some of the contact poses to show the importance of line of action and silhouette.

Tabook

https://vimeo.com/237533910

While browsing the bookstore 19-year-old Gwen is unexpectedly drawn to a volume of kinky erotica, earning her disapproving glares from the other customers. Will Gwen follow her deepest desires or will she let her embarrassment restrain her?

‘Tabook’ looks at the subject of sex in a fun loving way, highlighting the taboo that exists in society around embracing sexuality. It was crafted through digital 2D character animation (TVPaint) with paper art backgrounds, and a little bit of CG for the books.

Wishing you a happy International Face Your Fears Day (October 10th)!

Kobe Bryant And Glen Keane - Dear Basketball

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMMaFeDy8Rk

From Hollywood Reporter

With animation and a score by two legends — Glen Keane and John Williams, respectively — the five-minute-and-22-second-long film about the L.A. Laker great's relationship with basketball looks like a formidable contender.

Few, if any, animated shorts have ever had the bona fides of Dear Basketball, a five-minute-and-22-second-long film about Los Angeles Laker great Kobe Bryant's life and career that was produced by the hometown hero himself, animated by Disney legend Glen Keane and scored by music legend John Williams. Now, appropriately enough, Kobe and Co. are set to crash the best animated short Oscar race.

Dear Basketball, a tearjerker inspired by the 2015 poem of the same name through which Bryant announced his retirement from the sport (he narrates the film, too), premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April — and then, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, had an Oscar-qualifying run at Laemmle's Claremont 5 cinema in Claremont, Calif., in June.

While virtually anyone who can afford to make a movie and screen it for a week can claim to be Oscar-eligible, the fact is that Dear Basketball actually looks like a formidable contender.
