Constraint Demo 1: The Basics from David Latour on Vimeo.

The first video in a series explaining how an animator uses basic constraints within Maya for manipulating props and characters.

Constraint Demo 2: Prop to Hand from David Latour on Vimeo.

A five minute video showing how to set up a basic prop to hand constraint. Uses Josh Burton’s Morphy rig.

Constraint Demo 3: Hand to Prop from David Latour on Vimeo.

A 4 minute video showing how to set up a constraint in Maya that allows you to drive a character’s hand with a prop.

Constraint Demo 4: Two Hands to Prop from David Latour on Vimeo.

Fourth video in the series, showing how to set up a 2-handed constraint in Maya that would drive the character’s hands

Constraint Demo 6: Tumbles and Swings from David Latour on Vimeo.
Using constraints in Maya it is possible to create complex animations very easily. By setting up a simple stack of offset objects, you can alter the pivot point of a character to make animating swings and tumbles easy and intuitive. By baking the animation, you are able to easily edit the results. This demo uses Josh Burton’s Morpheus Rig.

Constraint Demo 5: Two Hand Hybrid from David Latour on Vimeo.
This video shows how to set up a two hand hybrid constraint, where one hand drives a prop and the second-hand acts as a child of that prop. Uses Josh Burton’s Morphy rig.
