just thought this was a lot of fun. One of the all time great films. Thigh-crunching motorcycle mayhem…can you imagine how long it took to make this? 0 Share this:TumblrLinkedInRedditTwitterFacebookPinterest Related Angie JonesAngie Jones - Artist | Educator | Animator All author posts PrevNext
This is the film that kickstarted the careers of the late Chuck Menville and his frequent collaborator, Len Janson. Dick Van Dyke aired it as part of his 1966 CBS tv special, partly because he is a lifelong fan of animation and he knew something unique when he spotted it. Menville and Jansen are known primarily for having been animation writers in the 1960’s through the 1990’s but they began as 16mm stop-motion filmmakers. They also did “Sgt. Swell of the Mounties”, another stop motion short with one terrific visual gag near the end. Chuck Menville was one of the nicest guys who ever lived and he left us way too early.
“can you imagine how long it took to make this?”
I was thinking more of …can you imagine the cramp these guys must have had in there legs squatting like that? Great stuff!
