Farley Fite, II – Freelance CG Animator

I took WS5 Full Body Acting and Lip Sync (at iAnimate) with Angie. She and her class was a pleasant surprise, from her passion and personality to what she taught. Right out the gate, we had to answer a questionnaire that I think was helpful to really decide what we wanted to get out of her class. This helped me to really focus on working on specific things I wanted to improve on throughout her course. It also informed her of how she could help everyone grow individually. Her class was really structured. I thought the progression of lessons and assignments was really interesting. Particularly, doing a dramatic shot before a comedy shot. She explained the similarities and differences and the importance of knowing how to achieve each so that your scene reads clearly. I believe that is something every animator should learn. I also wanted to note Angie’s investment in helping students. She really puts a lot into helping our ideas come to life. She provided a lot of resources from worksheets to help with planning, scripts/tools to props/sets. Her encouragement helps students want to see their shots all the way through. Another thing that I got out of her class was her insight into the different paths of the animation industry and communicating what we could expect to encounter on each, which is really helpful for someone not sure of the path that they should take yet.
